Let This Passage Gets Over…

Reading newspaper on holiday is a favourite pastime of many including mine. I think a holiday, stream of tea cups and the newspaper is the best combination one can have.

Today was engrossed in a wonderful article about the Independence of our nation, neglecting the summons of wife to go for bath and the water getting cold.

First, I thought I will finish this passage but then continued with the next, then to next article till finishing the whole newspaper. By this time the water got cold, requested her to do it again and started thinking about this behaviour of ours.

This happens all the time; we make ourselves so busy in something, we keep forgetting or postponing other important things in our life.

There comes many instances telling us, to stop, take a break, let it go, move on, but as a human nature, we often neglect and continue what we are into.

The laziness in the morning — our body keeps signalling us to wake up and exercise, but that ‘5 minutes more’, make us miss it.

The family trip that we planned long ago – saying not this weekend, will go next summer and doing this never make it.

Even small and important things like not attending the kid’s birthday saying ‘too busy in office, lets first finish the presentation’ and compensating our absence with a big gift.

But with this, the next time the kid won’t be a kid, turning to a youngster. The ‘next time’ will never able to give us the joy, the excitement we can see in toddler’s eye seeing his father there to feed him the cake. Later on making us crib, wish I were there on his birthday.

A small example is the same passage I was reading. If I read it without honouring the punctuations, it won’t give a meaning to the sentence or that passage.

The punctuation marks keep telling us about the important message in life. The comma tells us to stop for a while, the exclamatory mark to hold on and appreciate the things, the question mark asking us to think and ponder on whys of life, and the full stop telling us to stop, take a break.

But we keep neglecting such subtle signs telling us to respect the way of living life.

In these days of instant gratification, we are forgetting what is more gratifying in the long run and just rushing behind, to reach to a destination which we too are not sure of.

We are almost forgetting to enjoy the ride. There is a viral caricature, a man keeps running behind the money, by his old age he gathers huge amount but can’t enjoy as there is no time and the health also doesn’t permit it.

I can get my bathing water re-heated, but in real life, coming back and enjoy the same moments is never possible.
