Share a story about the furthest you’ve ever traveled from home.
It was for one of my company product launch in Beirut, Lebanon.
It was a whole new experience for me as till then I never travelled out of India.
Everything from passport, visa, the currency was a new thing for me.
It was a 4 day trip. One stop at Dubai and then to Beirut. First 2 days completely immersed in the launch programme.
And then unfortunately I fell sick, so couldn’t travel much. So I tried taking a stroll every now and then around the hotel in the city.
I loved the city from whatever small time I was there. I bought some medicines which were needed for testing at India, paid in dollars.
The reason I fall sick is because of food. I am a vegetarian and most of the food was non-veg. So I keep having rice with some spices. Also bought Pringles to munch every now and then.
Rest I loved the experience. Went to dinner along with partners there in Lebanon. Loved the hospitality.
At hotel, when myself was talking in ‘Hindi’ to my colleague, one guy from Pakistan came to me. He introduced himself and then we spoke for sometime in Urdu/Hindi. That 5-10 min chat didn’t come between the feud between our two countries.
Overall a nice experience. But when I last heard the tragic and deadly explosion in Beirut few years back, I got sad.
Wherever you go, travel, you keep collecting something, sometimes souvenirs which may last for sometime and few memories, which will be with you till the last of your life.
Love to Beirut.
