Why I am not I AM?

We think about something, form a firm opinion, and align everything in that direction. Then someone presents an opposing viewpoint, and suddenly, everything they say starts to seem right. What we had already decided feels wrong.

Why does this happen? Is it because we don’t thoroughly consider all aspects? Or is it because, unknowingly, we are biased toward one side? Or is it that we inherently lack such discernment?

Whatever the case may be, when something like this happens, it leads to immense frustration — frustration with own self. And then, when we begin to reflect deeply, the puzzle starts to unravel.

While thinking about anything, unknowingly, we tend to give more weight to the side we lean towards. We subconsciously favor that viewpoint.

It’s like tossing a coin before deciding whether to do something or not. And then before it lands, we hope it falls in our favor. If it does, we take it as a sign from fate and move forward. But if it lands the other way, we tell ourselves, “Whatever happens, let it happen, I’ll deal with it,” and end up doing the same thing anyway.

So, why this whole exercise of flipping the coin? For whom?

Is it to prove something to someone — to our close ones, to the people, to society? And in this process, the mind hesitates to think with clear and balanced reasoning. And then, it’s back to the same cycle…
