Nice Sticky Things

I just amazed for a minute, when I was about to use this permanent marker pen.

Don’t know why, but my eyes got stuck to the words mentioned on the pen ‘CD-DVD MARKER PEN’.

For a moment, I went back in the past, my college days probably, wherein the projects are stored on CD/DVDs and marked properly basis the subject.

CD, DVDs are passé now. The so called ‘Gen Z’ may not even know what are those used for.

Remember that comic, we must have scrolled many a times, a boy showing a Floppy disc to a kid asking whether he knows what it is, came the reply saying it’s a prototype of ‘save icon’.

So, these gone things become memories in our lives.

During my graduation, we used to travel to the college by bus. There used to be a bus-stop called by a flour mill name.

Every time the bus stopped, I used to look for that flour mill from the bus windows, but never found it.

Then one of the local people, when enquired told me that there used to be a flour mill few years back, it’s been closed long back, but the name still stayed.

If we see this, there is no compulsion as such that everyone should use the same name for the bus-stop. There are many multi storey buildings and landmarks created, but still the place is known by that flour mill name only.

Our life is also full of such ‘flour mills’ in our mind and heart. Since the time we start understanding the things, few special memories reside with us like that ‘flour mill’.

That time, those people may not be there with us, but like the marker pen and the writing thereon shall always be there deep inside our hearts.

Nothing can erase it from our memories.

Not necessary all those will be good ones, few exceptions will always be there.

But when we look back and think of those memories, for a moment it gives a sense of satisfaction.

Small things like a pen, a gifted book, a handwritten letter we found while re-reading an old book, those photos in the album or just remembering any of our closed ones, take us to that period.

We stay there for some time, literally in that moment, atmosphere – it creates a virtual world for us. That moment becomes like a time machine which brings all those in that period together, irrespective of the distance or a person dead or alive.

The first meet with our partner, a surprise gift to our kids, wedding anniversary celebration of parents, an emotional farewell of a colleague or death of a closed one.

Each and everything stays with us. It’s not necessary that, each of these moments need a thing to make us remember.

In our life, we keep collecting souvenirs, costly gifts, all material things, but the ones that inscribed in our memories are the most precious and will always stay with us till our last breath.

Lets try to add such precious moments to make the life beautiful and more meaningful.
