Think back on your most memorable road trip.
There are many, but this one, one of the tragic one I should say.
During Diwali vacation, I was travelling back to my native from my alma-mater city in a 🚌 bus.
Due to Diwali festival, there was a big crowd and I got the last sit somehow at the other end of the bus.
It was a night travel and due to winters, there was fog everywhere.
I remember, its 3am or 4am and everyone in the bus got a big jerk. A person who sat besides me, when I came to my senses, seen almost 3-4 feet away in the open space in the bus.
All the luggage was down. Everyone was shouting and before knowing anything another big blow came from the back. And within few seconds another.
Everyone left the luggage and was getting out of the bus.
When came down, we saw, almost 12 buses and trucks collided on each other due to fog and poor visibility.
I, with grace of God didn’t get that hurt, but the driver was badly trapped between the driving wheel and sit.
It was very disheartening to even see his face and the way he was quivering with pain.
Then the efforts started to literally pull out the driver from that place.
A tractor was called and it was 8/9am by then and fog has receded by then.
The tractor pulled a rope connected to the driving wheel, but it was so jammed, its getting difficult.
Police came and asked us to leave the place and travel back with whatever means possible.
Those days mobiles were not that common. At home, I was supposed to reach by 7 am, I reached by 2pm in noon.
I was literally shivering with the scene but didn’t tell anything at home, as they will unnecessarily take tension for my travel back.
That Diwali, couldn’t enjoy and still I think what happened to that driver.
Hope all well.
Sorry for this tragic experience.
