Lessons Learned from My Favorite Teacher

Daily writing prompt
Who was your most influential teacher? Why?

A prompt close to my heart and I think it will be same for others too. As it says ‘teachers’, I relate it to my school teachers.

School, schoolmates, teachers, homework, and everything around it.

“Take him to the principal”, I never felt threatened with anything but with this sentence.

School teachers are the close ones.

These days many things are changed and I don’t think kids feel that close to the teachers and true in other way as well. (my personal POV).

Now on prompt. I was lucky to have many influential teachers.

But one, I feel special and influenced more is Mr Surve Sir. He is retired now, but we are still in touch.

He has his own style of punishment. He punished me and my brother in front of my parents and the sad or good thing is, my parents didn’t even stop him that time.

But like a coconut, though he was tough outside, inside he was like so soft.

I remember, during our school trip, we literally spent night sleeping on his lap. Our school was not that sophisticated and had to arrange the trip in trucks.

In 7th standard, which was our last year in school and for 8th we had to change the school, we students decided to felicitate Surve sir.

We collected some amount, purchased one shawl and coconut. We decided to do that on Republic day.

Till then he didn’t know about our plan, but on that day, when he came to know, he asked us to felicitate the Principal, who was much senior and a kind-hearted man too.

He insisted and we did as he requested.

Many small small things, we learnt and got influenced by Surve sir.

Thank you Sir, we owe you a lot.
