Few Songs

We hum a song early in the morning. Many times while bathing.

Then that same song doesn’t leave us the whole day. Literally, like background music, it keeps playing continuously in our heads all day.

Whether we are walking, in a meeting, talking to someone or laughing, just like breathing happens unknowingly, that song keeps swirling in our mind the same way.

We can’t avoid it, and we don’t know why.

This morning, “Nadiya chale chale re dhara” suddenly came to my mind, and it is still playing.

Nadiya chale chale yeh dhara,
Chanda chale chale re tara,
Tujhko chalna hoga, tujhko chalna hoga

O river, flowing endlessly,
So does the stream,
The moon moves,
And so do the stars.
You must keep moving,
You must keep moving.

After thinking a little, I wondered why a particular song would come up. Could it be that we are thinking about something and unknowingly connect that song and our thoughts?

They say, “What dwells in the mind appears in dreams” — maybe it’s something like that.

Don’t know, but I’ve heard this song many times, but today it’s appearing in a completely new form.

One line from it — “Tu na chalega to chal degi rahein, manzil ko tarsegi teri nigaahein” [If you don’t move forward, The paths will leave you behind, Your eyes will yearn for the destination.], and another one, very special and thought-provoking:

“Paar hua wo raha jo safar me,
Jo bhi ruka, ghir gaya wo bhanwar me,
Naav to kya, bah jaye kinaara,
Badi hi tez samay ki hai dhaara
Tujhko chalna hoga”

The one who stayed on the journey,
Crossed the path.
Those who stopped,
Got caught in the whirlpool.
Forget the boat,
Even the shore will be swept away.
The current of time is swift.
You must keep moving,
You must keep moving.

Immediately, I shared this song with a friend and told him to close his eyes tightly and listen. And I too listened in the same way.

Keep moving, stopping is not an option, the world won’t stop just because you stopped — “Naav to kya bah jaye kinaara, badi hi tez samay ki hai dhaara.”

Few songs say a lot and have a different kind of impact in our lives.
