Life Before the Internet: A Nostalgic Reflection

Daily writing prompt
Do you remember life before the internet?

Very much!

I feel that my generation is the last generation that experienced the ‘internet-free’ era.

We read that all over the world, everyone is clinging to their gadgets connected with the internet, not knowing what’s happening in the real world.

Virtual friends, virtual land, virtual friendship, virtual money, everything is there in the mind and nothing in real life.

The generation which born during this internet era has missed a big one and will never understand how beautiful life was in that era.

The homework was on physical paper, not sent through the school WhatsApp groups.

Holidays were pure holidays, where we used to soak in the pure joy, at our maternal native places.

Communication used to happen in person, and if not, physical letters used to be sent, and this post-internet generation can’t even imagine the eagerness to receive the answer in the form of a letter from the other side.

Those long queues at the railway stations, to get the tickets, the banks where you have to go physically to withdraw or deposit money, THE PHYSICAL MONEY.

That chat with strangers during that period of being in the queue.

During the travel or commute, talking to co-passengers, understanding the new things, and not being neck-deep in the mobiles.

To get any information, you need to speak to the experts on the respective subjects or need to visit the library for reference books.

Everything has a waiting period and is not available at the click of a button.

That taught us the patience, the joy of waiting, which is rare lately.

I am not against the internet era, it is helping humanity in great ways.

The Internet is meant to bring people together, but I have never seen people distancing themselves; the way it is doing to us.
