Conquering Writer’s Block: Tips for a Strong Ending

We think of something to write, and we get a good subject.

After pondering for a few days or weeks, we start writing.

Now we have all the characters in our mind, the theme, the direction, except for how to end what we are writing.

We keep writing, as we plan for an unknown journey and as we put next step, the path gets clear.

We get engrossed in the characters, the situations, the crests and troughs of the feelings. We experience everything, the scene, the location, everything like we are watching an imaginary film happening live in front of us.

We get happy that everything is going smoothly, but one day, when we have to decide to conclude, we scramble for how to end the story.

We have a few ways to do it, but then it feels like we are doing an injustice to our story, to those characters that live in our minds.

When we are on the verge of completing the story, in the climax scene, we get stuck. And when this continues for a long period of time, then it creates confusion. We then start re-reading what we wrote.

We think, should we remove that character, or change the situation to get to a proper end, but then our heart doesn’t agree to it, because the write-up which we are upto is like a clothe spined out of yarn with each thread deeply connected to the other. Taking our something will ruin everything.

But we have to finish this, so my friends, how do you proceed in such situations? Will you please enlighten me?
