It may seem strange and out of the world, but I don’t like to watch any sport.
In India, Cricket is like a national game, and is almost like a religion. But I would like to mention here that Hockey is the national game of India.
On Olympic games, few Indian athletes brought glory to India lately. There were few from before the freedom and in-between as well.
I feel, when we watch a game with a vengeance, as if the opposite party is our enemy, we lose the spirit of the game.
Anyway as I don’t like to watch, I neglect it.
Here in India, during daily commute, people discuss about cricket, various players, the tactics used, the current IPL season etc.
I feel myself as an outsider that time. Even the names of the cricket players seem new to me.
Very few players like Kapil Dev, Sunil Gawaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat, Dhoni and few others are known to me,.
From other countries, I often get confused of their nationality.
Its like watching English movies, we like the story, but don’t know the actor names.
I sometimes feel, this is not good, we should take interest in all the games, but so far, I am unable to take an interest in it.
But I do read in newspapers, who won and lost, the number of medals own by which countries, the tally of Gold, Silver and Bronze.
I would like to see my India on the top. I hope, we will be there in coming time.
Though I don’t watch it, my wishes are always there for Indian and all the world athletes, who are putting their sweat and blood into it.
Best Luck!
