Diwali – Tick Mark wali!

As the October month approaches, and Dashahara festival ends, the wait for Diwali starts.

Putting the leave application, the anxiousness about the days we put the leave for will get approved, the tickets, reservations to respective native places.

That shopping of clothes, that one appliance or high end mobile, we keep waiting to buy specially on Diwali occasion.

Those 10-15 days are like we are almost in the air.

Like all the ladies await this festival as a chance to go their maternal homes, we guys too think of meeting all the school friends, who will also plan for it.

As a kid, there used to be few additional and realistic things which used to make the Diwali festival – “an eagerly waiting for” festival.

Waking up early in the morning, the only reason to fire the crackers, more the sound more the happiness.

Dress up in the newly bought, which at that time generally used to get bought once in a year.

Munch on the crispy, tasty and sweet snacks for whole day and whole week.

That naughtiness with cousins, that good vibes, relatives coming home, the meet, especially face-to-face meets which otherwise possible only during a marriage or funerals.

Everything associated with Diwali was a blessing.

For me, my childhood Diwali used to get celebrated at my maternal uncle’s home, a village just with population of 3000-4000.

But lately, from last 4-5 years, I heard almost many people saying that Diwali is not like the one which used to be in those days.

Yes, we tick mark all the blocks of – meeting relatives, new clothes, sweets and snacks, high-end purchases…everything, but still it’s a no match to that earlier Diwali.

The eagerness of this festival remaining just for having few days as holidays or a break with no regular work or office work.

Rest like shopping of clothes, these days it doesn’t need an occasion to shop for, moreover the 24×7 sale and discounts are there.

Food which used to be a Diwali novelty, available all the year and just 10 min away.

Same thing with the other purchases, EMIs and other options made it really simple.

Don’t know is it just me with few in my know who feel the similar way.

But seriously missing that Bachpanwali (childhood) DIWALI.
