Status…These Days!

Internet, social media have literally changed the meanings of the certain words in our life. There are many memes, emotional clips, many forwards and even write-ups done around those words. The most famous one is “Attachment”- one of the most used emotional words, applicable for all the ages, but the emails and unwanted files, changed the meaning of it. Similarly we have read umpteen numbers of times about Apple, Blackberry and how before internet those were just fruits and now whenever anyone utters those words, we think of gadgets and not the fruits, etc.

One more word, which we are going to talk, is “Status”. A big one and very few in the society used to have it or at least claimed to have it. It used to be same throughout his/her life. But now, thanks to Whatsapp, everyone using it has a status and can be changed almost every day or even more frequently.

Now, this “status” reveals so many things about the person, his/her state-of-mind, what he is going through or just how someone faking something. Those who don’t change it, then it becomes a signature style of that person, literally a status for them.

The real fun is to read those, sometimes in different languages – local, regional or international or sometimes code worded, symbols or numbers. More difficult it is the more curiosity one has to know the meaning and to know more about that person. Few are like “Cogito Ergo Sum”, “Ubuntu”, “Amor Fati”, and many more.

Many a times, these heavy words are put, just for the sake of putting and when we relate it with that person, we can easily identify the flaw. But sometimes, they tell us the real state of the mind, their attitude, way of looking at life or living the life, sometimes the struggles one going through, someone’s trust in respective Gods and deities, how they got hit in their life and still trying to come back, few who lost all the hope and many tries to give certain messages to their special ones [hope you got it – ;)], and for few it shows how they reached to the “self-actualization” levels.

They say that the way we use social media reveals many things about ourselves. The way we respond, react, watch, pause, neglect – creates a profile of ours to the world. If so, then I think the status we put can be a title of that profile or may be the summary.
