AI is coming, no, it’s came and here. Now Gen AI is coming. Okay understood!
We are afraid. Too many jobs at risk. Drastic unemployment.
100 people’s job will be done by one robot/system. Productivity will increase by 1000 times.
Increased productivity for companies and job loss, layoffs for employees.
All understood.
Now look at the graph about Indian population involved in Agriculture and Software& Service industry.
Graphs, %, numbers are generally too boring…too much to read and analyze : (
But we will take the help of it.
The Blue line shows the % of population involved in agriculture and the Red one shows the % of population in Software and Service industry.
In 1970, the latter was just at 1%, which gone up to above 30%, similarly the % agri. population down by similar around 30%. [A recent interview of IBM CEO, he mentioned that in US, just 3% population is in Agriculture].
Now, as we know, the software sector, the computers, ATMs, Internet all are there to reduce the manpower with the automation. But if we see the graph, that’s not showing it.
In-fact, it’s the opposite what we are looking at.
With very little knowledge of industry and almost nil knowledge of latest AI, Gen AI etc, what I presume is that the technology will definitely affect the jobs, precisely the existing jobs, but it will definitely open the new doors of opportunities. (Fingers crossed)
Only thing is we need to embrace it by upskilling ourselves.
Wrote this with a fear in mind and giving self an assurance saying ALL WILL BE WELL.
What’s your take on this?
