You Forgot Me, Do You?

You said you forgot me. I am okay and I too can understand.

Nothing between us for so long. Time does what it is supposed to and what has been said about it.

I am also forgetting, I am no different.

Let me tell you it’s not intentional, at least not from my side.

I hope yours too. But who knows?

Living life is not just holding hands and being happy, it needs much more than that.

But let me tell you, in this unnecessarily busy life, I stumble upon many things, that push me to remember you.

How could I abstain from that path, we trod so many times holding hands.

The place, where we stopped on that particular joke of mine, where you couldn’t resist the burst of laughter, putting one hand on my shoulder, leaning at me and the other covering your mouth.

I won’t be able to neglect that place — our waiting spot, just outside the station, near the ATM. Whoever reaches the spot, sends the regular message “At the ATM.”

I still imagine you are getting off the train and walking towards the meeting spot.

I cannot forget, how you used to raise your hand, saying, “Hey, I am coming.”

That 5-minute walk from the ‘ladies’ coach’ up to the ATM. You look at me, then look around, again looking back at me. That five minutes used to seem forever and I could see the same feelings in your eyes too.

When we finally meet at the spot, those few moments, those few seconds, nothing gets spoken. Just a chit-chat between hearts. And then breaking that silence with any news from the office or how crowded trains are lately.

These are the things that often remind me of you. I cannot stop that, I don’t want to.

What about you? Do you remember me when that famous duet played on the radio FM? Do you stop it or listen to it? I am sure, both the acts make you remember me.

By now you must have forgotten the habit of waiting for my ‘good night’ message before sleeping. But sometimes, late at night, the chime of a message, makes you think of me.

Do you remember, when we were travelling together, we checked the names on the shop board and were happy when we saw our names there?

I hope, now if you see my name on any of the shops, you can’t avoid me coming in your thoughts.

Those roads, those spots, bus stations, the ends of railway station platforms, those abandoned corner spots in the garden, and mainly in each other’s heart, we have touched so many places, we left something everywhere.

It’s not possible to remove or forget that.

“Time heals everything” they say, but I want to put it differently as below –

The scars

don’t hurt anymore,

but I can’t forget

the way

they used to

  1. I don’t have answers or solutions. Because I’m still figuring out them..

Yours seems a real love story. Mine is basically imaginative, all my head (rare real memories, not many).

Accept that you deserve to get loved. Also trust in your ability to love rather than seeking love.
Afterall, at the end, the quality of present life matters and not the past (easy to say but hard to act).

Working on future, even planning it seems very uneasy. Each moment passes so slow and boring.
Do things you life. Heal yourself. “Release the things & the pain associated with them which holds you back.”

    Take care! Keep smiling! 😁

    1. Man I am all satisfied and if asked I will chose my current one (arranged one) over earlier. But as they say, memories…it’s difficult to let that go.

      1. May I ask how I can respond better? As you see I lack information.

Also this is a personal topic.
I need to be careful while responding. Can choose to not comment sometimes.
