Overcoming Overthinking: A Daily Improvement

Daily writing prompt
What’s one small improvement you can make in your life?

In this life, everyone is under some pressure.

Pressure to prove oneself, to move ahead, per pressure, and if not the regular and basic of earning daily bread and butter.

And while doing this, even a small thing goes haywire, our mind goes into thinking unthinkable.

Suppose, if I miss a cab to the office, then the thoughts come like, OMG, I will get late, boss will be angry now, it will delay the project, same will reflect in my yearly appraisal, I will get lower ratings, and no promotion and finally may not be considered further.

All this comes between catching the next cab and meeting the boss, just 15-20 minutes gap.

When reach office, I just say sorry to the boss, boss also doesn’t mind that much and in evening we both go for a cup of coffee. That’s it.

But then the overthinking of that 10-15 minutes make the life unbearable.

I want to give it up, want to enjoy the present, not to think about future that much.

I want to plan but then let everything to the destiny, as I mentioned in one of my answers to the prompts here.

So, friend, as I am putting It here infront of you, I shall my level best to bring this small change in my life – NOT TO OVERTHINK.

  2. Overthinking is actually triggered by the anxiety.
It isn’t a thoughtful process. You don’t come up with something fruitful as a result.
What you mentioned is purely worry, insecurity, and fear.

Overthinking is different depending on the context:
    1. When you think about the past. This feeling is called nostalgia.
    2. When it’s related to the future. You call it daydreaming.
    3. We need to understand that thinking itself can’t solve real life problems. Sometimes things are out of your control or they demand more time.
    4. An overthinker receives excessive information from the external sources. This information is focused and process internally (introversion).
Solution: receive limited information, ignore unreliable sources, try to be happy

    1. Phone usage has an impact on its user.
Less attention span causes restlessness, overwhelming behaviour, sad and negative thoughts.

  4. Yes.. Overthinking is something we should really stop… Sometimes a very small gesture or word consume days of our lives just bcz of overthinking…
But there are some things we must overthink… but the problem is most of the things we overthink are not worthy to at least think…
So good luck to get over your over thinking my friend!🤝😄
